How This Website Was Made
The complete, unredacted build transcript of creating andyleeds.com with Antigravity, Hugo, GitHub, and Cloudflare.
Below is the complete, unredacted conversation transcript (including behind-the-scenes agent work logs and the Cloudflare browser-automation report) from building and deploying andyleeds.com on November 7, 2026.
I have a cloudflare domain set up a blog where I write stuff in markdown and upon commit into my GitHub it is converted to HTML and pushed to the domain. Astro or Hugo
Present me with various templates to chose from.
Think “authors blog” for posting short stories, fragments of stories, etc. I’ll fill in all of the content (sitemap, name etc), I just want you to create the infrastructure for it.

Quick Decisions Needed to Build Your Infrastructure
Which template (1–6) do you want?
- If you pick #1 (The Literary Journal), let me know whether you prefer Hugo (single binary, zero
npmdependencies to maintain long-term, millisecond builds) or Astro (strict Markdown frontmatter validation and componentized layouts). - (Note: Neither
hugonornodeis currently on your localPATH—you don’t actually need either installed just to commit Markdown and publish, or I can install your chosen engine locally if you want live local previews.)
- If you pick #1 (The Literary Journal), let me know whether you prefer Hugo (single binary, zero
How would you like GitHub to push to Cloudflare?
- Cloudflare Native Git Integration (Recommended): You link the GitHub repo once in your Cloudflare dashboard; every
git pushautomatically builds the Markdown to HTML and deploys to your domain with zero API keys to manage. - GitHub Actions Workflow (
.github/workflows/deploy.yml): GitHub builds the static HTML on commit and pushes it to Cloudflare Pages/Workers using aCLOUDFLARE_API_TOKENsecret.
- Cloudflare Native Git Integration (Recommended): You link the GitHub repo once in your Cloudflare dashboard; every
Let me know your picks and I’ll scaffold the entire project, folder structure (stories/ + fragments/), RSS/sitemap plumbing, and deployment config right away.
#1. Hugo. Install the engine locally. I would like to have previews when I am writing in VS Code.

Regarding Your GitHub & Cloudflare Accounts
I checked your environment and connected integrations—neither your GitHub account nor your Cloudflare domain is in context (gh and wrangler CLIs aren’t installed, and no account plugins are linked).
Because you chose Cloudflare Native Git, I do not need your Cloudflare login or API keys:
- Cloudflare Domain: Only share your domain name (e.g.,
example.com) if you want me to setbaseURLin hugo.toml for you—otherwise you can fill in line 4 yourself. Connecting Cloudflare to GitHub is a one-time OAuth click in your Cloudflare browser dashboard (steps in README.md). - GitHub Repo: If you already created an empty repo on GitHub, paste its URL (e.g.,
https://github.com/<you>/<repo>.git) and your preferred Git commitname/emailso I can commit and push this setup for you—or I can leave the initialized local Git repo for you to push yourself.
What Has Been Installed & Built
- Local Engine Installed: Hugo Extended
v0.169.0is installed viawingetand verified (53 msbuild, zero warnings). (Restart VS Code if it was already open so its terminal picks up the updatedPATH.) - The Literary Journal Infrastructure:
- Site Config: hugo.toml — pre-wired with automatic
sitemap.xml,robots.txt, RSS feeds, book-grade smart punctuation (---→ em-dash, curly quotes), drop caps, and indented fiction paragraphs. - Layouts & Typesetting: baseof.html, home.html, stories/page.html, fragments/list.html, and journal.css (includes Paper & Night reading modes, centered
⁂scene breaks whenever you write***, and a notebook-style stream for untitled or titled fragments). - Starter Placeholders & Archetypes: the-glass-harbor.md, 001.md, about.md, plus templates in archetypes/stories.md and archetypes/fragments.md.
- VS Code Writing & Live Preview: .vscode/tasks.json and .vscode/settings.json — press
Ctrl+Shift+Bin VS Code to launchhugo server -D --navigateToChangedathttp://localhost:1313(auto-reloads and jumps to whichever draft or story you just saved). - Cloudflare Build Plumbing: wrangler.jsonc, build.sh, and .gitattributes — pins Hugo Extended
0.169.0on Cloudflare’s build servers so everygit pushcompiles./publicidentically to your local machine.

Would you like to share your domain and GitHub repo URL so I can wire up the remote and push the initial commit, or will you take it from here?

I don’t have a repo on github for this. My email for github is aleeds444@gmail.com

I’ve wired up https://andyleeds.com/ in hugo.toml, set the project name to andyleeds-blog in wrangler.jsonc, configured Git with aleeds444@gmail.com, and created your initial commit on main.
Final 3 Steps to Go Live on andyleeds.com
1. Create an Empty Repo on GitHub
- Open https://github.com/new (signed in as
aleeds444@gmail.com). - Name it (e.g.,
andyleeds-blog— Private works great with Cloudflare if you wantdraft = truestories kept private in Git). - Leave “Add a README”, .gitignore, and license unchecked, then click Create repository.
2. Push Your Local Repo to GitHub
Either paste the new https://github.com/... repo URL here and I’ll push it for you, or run these two commands in VS Code’s terminal:
git remote add origin https://github.com/<YOUR_USERNAME>/<YOUR_REPO>.git
git push -u origin main
3. Link GitHub → Cloudflare → andyleeds.com
- Open https://dash.cloudflare.com → Compute (Workers & Pages) → Create → Import a repository (Connect to Git) and select your new repository.
- Workers tab (Cloudflare’s default): Leave defaults as-is—Cloudflare reads wrangler.jsonc, runs build.sh (Hugo Extended
0.169.0), and publishes./public. Click Deploy. - (If you choose the classic Pages tab instead, set Build command to
bash ./build.shand Output directory topublic.)
- Workers tab (Cloudflare’s default): Leave defaults as-is—Cloudflare reads wrangler.jsonc, runs build.sh (Hugo Extended
- In the deployed project, open Settings → Domains & Routes → Add → Custom domain and type
andyleeds.com(Cloudflare adds the DNS route and SSL certificate automatically).
Daily Writing Workflow in VS Code
- Preview locally: Open this
Blogfolder in VS Code (restart VS Code once if it’s already open so it seeshugo), pressCtrl+Shift+B, and open http://localhost:1313. Saving any Markdown file live-updates the browser. - Publish: Set
draft = falsein your story (content/stories/*.md) or fragment (content/fragments/*.md), commit, and push—Cloudflare converts it to HTML and updatesandyleeds.comautomatically.
Actually lets use https://github.com/aleeds/blogv2

run_command— Add GitHub origin remoterun_command— Push main branch to GitHubrun_command— Push main branch to GitHub
I’ve added https://github.com/aleeds/blogv2.git as origin and started pushing main to GitHub (if Windows pops up a GitHub sign-in prompt, approve it and I’ll confirm once the push finishes).
Still working on that? Its been 8 minutes
Agent work log (4 internal steps)
manage_task— action:statusmanage_task— action:killrun_command— Verify Git remote and check for lock files- Background task cancelled: Headless git push task-105 stopped
Sorry about that—git push hung in the background because my headless shell can’t display Windows Git Credential Manager’s interactive GitHub sign-in popup, so it sat waiting silently for authentication. I cancelled that background task and verified your repo is clean with origin already set to https://github.com/aleeds/blogv2.git.
Run this directly in your own PowerShell or VS Code terminal inside c:\Users\aleed\OneDrive\Desktop\Blog so Windows can pop open the one-time GitHub browser sign-in (and cache it for all future commits):
git push -u origin main
(Note: Make sure aleeds/blogv2 exists on GitHub first. If it already has an initial README or older files you want to replace with this new setup, run git push -u origin main --force instead.)
Once that push completes, connect aleeds/blogv2 in your Cloudflare Dashboard (Compute → Create → Import a repository) and attach andyleeds.com under Settings → Domains & Routes—all build configs (wrangler.jsonc, build.sh, and hugo.toml) are committed and ready.

Right now I don’t have browser access enabled in standard mode, and linking aleeds/blogv2 to Cloudflare Native Git requires an OAuth click inside a logged-in browser session (Cloudflare doesn’t allow a CLI to grant GitHub App access without browser consent).
Yes—you can give me browser control to do it for you using the /browser command:
First, push the repo from your own terminal so Windows caches your GitHub login:
git push -u origin main(Add
--forceifaleeds/blogv2already has old files you want replaced.)Then send this right here in chat:
/browser Connect aleeds/blogv2 in my Cloudflare dashboard and attach andyleeds.com as its custom domain
That unlocks browser automation so I can open dash.cloudflare.com, import aleeds/blogv2 using wrangler.jsonc, handle any old DNS records from a previous version of andyleeds.com, and attach the custom domain for you (pausing only if you need to sign in).

Pasting /browser ... sent it as plain text rather than triggering the slash-command menu—and I also see your repo is already pushed to aleeds/blogv2 on GitHub!
To let me drive the browser and connect Cloudflare for you, do either of these:
- Trigger

Chrome DevTools lets me automate and interact with Chrome directly to configure your Cloudflare dashboard.

invoke_subagent— spawned subagent: Cloudflare Dashboard Automator
I’ve launched the Cloudflare Dashboard Automator browser agent to connect aleeds/blogv2 in your Cloudflare dashboard and attach andyleeds.com.
I’ll let you know as soon as the deployment and custom domain setup finish—or right away if the browser needs you to sign in to Cloudflare or approve GitHub OAuth.
Am I able to use chrome while you are doing this?
Yes! You can use your regular Chrome windows and other tabs normally.
The Cloudflare Dashboard Automator works inside its own dedicated browser window/tab—just avoid clicking inside or closing that specific agent-controlled tab (unless I ask you to sign in there) so your cursor doesn’t interrupt its clicks.

Done—I replaced both occurrences of "Author Name" with "Andy Leeds" in hugo.toml (which automatically updates the header, page <title> tags, meta author tags, RSS feeds, and footer copyright everywhere), committed the change, and pushed it to aleeds/blogv2 (main).
The Cloudflare Dashboard Automator is still actively running in the background; I’ll update you as soon as it finishes connecting the site.
Completed connecting aleeds/blogv2 (main) in Cloudflare Workers & Pages and attaching andyleeds.com (and www.andyleeds.com) as custom domains! Everything built and deployed cleanly on the first run and is live over HTTPS right now.
